A whiskey company that helps serve veteran charities? That's worth a sip. Soldier Valley, a brand partnered and aligned with country music icon Lee Greenwood, donates a portion of the proceeds from every bottle to important charities that provide services and support to our veterans, their families, and the first responders who protect our communities. Their donations reach Tunnels to Towers Foundation, Helping a Hero, and Folds of Honor.
Their website expands on their mission, saying:
Soldier Valley Spirits honors our service members and veterans with premium American-made spirits packaged in collectible, patriotic bottles. The World War II-inspired, canteen-shaped bottle is embossed with the number “6” and carries a hanging military-style dog tag showcasing the letters “LG.”
The “6” on every barrel and bottle is a constant reminder that we always have each other’s backs. Just like on a clock, the stars represent nine, twelve, three, and SIX. That holds especially true for the veterans, nonprofit veterans’ groups, and first responders we support.

Nose: The glass opens tame and bright, like how a sleeping African lion's mane looks from a great, safe distance. Light fruity funk can be pulled up from the depths on long, prodding inhales. Peanut brittle, grass, and hints of brass come together quite strangely. A hint of banana bread passes over the mind on subsequent sniffs.
Coming back from a sip reveals a much more evolved whiskey: cedar and sandalwood give off a manly musk. Swirling the glass excites allspice to the foreground before settling back into a simple, easy profile of prairie grass and cereal grain. Youthful banana returns in abundance later in the pour.
Palate: My first taste is equally as tame as the nose, producing a soft medley of copper, apricot, and pancake batter. Another sip and swish reports back with barley, brown rice, and warm pita bread. The mouthfeel is on the thinner side, giving me the impression that this whiskey was crafted to not leave an impression—ultimate drinkability seems to be at the foreground of this straightforward sip. At glass end I find a continuation from the nosing experience as grain dominates the midpalate with just a hint of spice running up the edges of the tongue. The finish is soft and swift with plain pancake, the only notable experience.
Empty glencairn: Aromas of milk chocolate that shift and deplete into airport carpet only manage to furrow my brow.
TL;DR: Light sipping whiskey for people who don't usually drink whiskey

One of my best friends is a veteran of the army, and I occasionally give him whiskey bottles I don't think I'll ever get around to drinking. I think I'll be making my own charitable contribution to a veteran here soon with this one.
